Year of establishment: 2021

History of the department: The Department of Geography of Murshidabad University was founded in 2021 at K.N. College Campus, Berhampore, Murshidabad. The first batch of P.G students passed out successfully in 2023 and four of them have already passed UGC NET/ SET.

Thrust area in teaching and research of the department:

1. Teaching support: Seminar Library, Survey instruments, Laboratory for chemical and physical analyses of soil samples and RS/GIS Laboratory.
2. Research support: Geomorphology and hazard studies, Environmental geography.

Major activities:

P.G students participated in Regional Science Congress 2023-24, organized by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of west Bengal and one of them got the first prize.
